Developer Issues New Prophecy
Released 18 September 2000

Australia's Prophecy International has built a global business during the 1990s with its PROPHECY suite of Financials software.

With a worldwide distribution network in place, the Adelaide-based software developer has launched a new assault on the international market with its next generation Financials product, ProphecyOpen.

ProphecyOpen is an object-oriented modular software application which takes a quantum leap beyond the current generation of Financials packages, including its highly successful predecessor, PROPHECY.

PROPHECY is installed at more than 850 sites around the world, earning Prophecy International revenues of about $14 million.

Designed for the financial management of medium to large corporate and government organisations, PROPHECY comprises 20 business modules including general ledger, accounting services, purchasing, payroll, leave management, personnel services, assets and project costing.

Operating on the CA-OpenIngres database, PROPHECY is able to run on as many as 50 different hardware platforms unchanged including DEC, Sun Hewlett-Packard and IBM systems.

A recent outstanding success is BASIS, a module of PROPHECY that provides an extensive customer information system for utility organisations such as those that sell electricity, water or gas services.

Since its release in 1990, PROPHECY has achieved substantial success internationally, particularly in the United States, the United Kingdom, Europe, South Africa and South East Asia.

Major international sites include Indonesia's Bank Danamon, which uses PROPHECY in its 250 branches, regional offices and headquarters, the South African Ports Authority, Portnet and Yorkshire Electricity, which is using PROPHECY to compete in the deregulated British utilities market.

Australian PROPHECY installations include Asset Services, the Federal Department of Primary Industry and Energy, the West Australian Lotteries Commission, the Fremantle Ports Authority, NSW Public Works, the University of Canberra, the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation, AWA, APM/Packaging in Victoria and Rapid Metal Developments in Adelaide.

Prophecy International develops, markets and supports PROPHECY and administers its world-wide distribution network from its headquarters in Adelaide.

The company also runs subsidiaries in Singapore, the United States and Britain. The PROPHECY distribution network involves more than 1000 people worldwide.

During the global recession of the early 1990s, Prophecy International recorded remarkable growth including a doubling of revenue and profit from year to year.
